Food Assistance
WHO IT’S FOR:
- Families with young children (birth to age 5)
- Pregnant women
WHY IT MATTERS:
Nutritious food is critical for a young child’s healthy development, and families may need temporary help in providing enough safe and nutritious food.
WHAT IT IS:
First Things First funds temporary food assistance in some FTF regions through the distribution of food boxes, food backpacks for children, or food vouchers to families with young children and pregnant women. Families are also provided with information on sources for longer-term food resources.
Food assistance may be made available through child care settings, local food banks, family resource centers, home visiting and other programs.
Food assistance is also available in other FTF regions through family resource centers.
