Stamp No. 3Mia Nolting

Have you designed a stamp before?
Nope

What was the most interesting or fun aspect of designing for this form, the poster stamp?
Working at a small size is something I’ve never done before. Most of the time I work small initially and go larger in the end and this was the opposite, where the final product is smaller than the drawings I started with.

What unique challenges did it present?
Since I was working with drawn lettering, making sure it would be readable at size presented a challenge. It was fun to make something whose content was completely open-ended, the only constraint being size. I’d never actually seen a poster stamp in real life so there were some unknowns about how it would turn out.

Tell us about the art. Did you create something new for this stamp?
I did create something new, and the phrase is based on some reading I’ve been doing about the importance of feelings, specifically feelings in the body, in being crucial to decision-making. Most of the time people want an explanation about why/how things are done other than “it just felt right”.

I finally have the confidence to say that something feeling right is a good reason to do something, and listening to gut feelings is important.

Anything else?
Thank you for asking me to participate!
