Have you designed a stamp before?

I have never designed a stamp before and hope to do more.

What was the most interesting or fun aspect of designing a poster stamp? What unique challenges did it present?

These eight “strong woman” portraits were made as place cards for a neighborhood party. Each woman is a friend of mine and we all live by the sea, our road being a long peninsula. When The Portland Stamp Company requested JPEGs of each image I had to confess I’d already given them away as gifts at the party.

Tell us about the art. Did you create something new for this stamp?

I’m a figurative painter and these women often populate my paintings, usually with full bathing suits, not topless.

My gallery in Portland, OR just had a show of my work titled “Mother Joins the Circus” They published an accompanying book with a small strong man on the cover. I made the place cards after I made the book cover.

Anything else?

I shall have a wonderful time with this magnificent collection! My thanks to Portland Stamp!
