TNT w/ Clatsop Co. Historical Society: Astoria – A Past & Present Photographic Tour

Join us in the Lovell Showroom on Thursday, March 16th for Thursday Night Talks w/ Clatsop County Historical Society. Chelsea Vaughn, Curator for the Clatsop County Historical Society, presents Astoria: A Past & Present Photographic Tour.

Looking west on Commercial Street from the corner of Tenth Street, these images juxtapose two different ideas of Astoria against a shared backdrop. The upper photograph, from the late 1940s, offers an ever-modernizing street scene with the city’s historic architecture buried beneath a wall of neon signs. Still an active stretch of road, in the lower image, the neon has given way to a more subdued approach that better reflects the building’s historical character. Past image CCHS no. 6809-903.

Doors to the Lovell Showroom open at 6pm with food and beverages available via the Taproom window. All ages welcome and never a cover!
