Sunday Night Music: The Floating Easements with The Losers-Weepers

The Floating Easements is an amalgam of rhythm masters and melody monsters living downstream there on the lower Columbia River. It’s led by Jeffrey Munger. Jeff plays guitar. That’s something he’s always done. And by golly, I can’t think of anyone from here to Winnemucca who owns the first position deeper or sweeter than Jeffrey Mungar. I’m talking about frets zero to five. 0-1-2-3-4-5. Soul. Tone. Twang. Chunk-A-Chunk. Woop-Dee-Woo. Ask your friendly guitar store teacher what that might mean. And the band hold up their end of the bargain too, happily serving up what you want to hear on a Saturday night. Western topspin. Super steel from Jamie Greenan. Nathan Crockett’s boot stomp fiddle. Saxophone from Jeff’s brother Paul. And a swinging rhythm section provided by Brian Bovenizer and Will Elias.

Losers Weepers is an aging country cover band from Astoria, OR that mixes in some occasional original material with enthusiasm. Members include Barry Southern, Gabrielle Macrae (The Horsenecks), Kati Claborn, Luke Ydstie (The Hackles), Brian Bovenizer (Floating Easements) and Erik Clampitt (Power of County, Hook & Anchor, Golden Promise, Woodlawn Ramblers). Bonding through their mutual appreciation of the yacht-country songcraft of Don Williams and Conway Twitty, the Losers Weepers overcome their name by playing funky country that will dry your tears on the dance floor.

Catch both The Floating Easements and The Losers-Weepers when they hit the Fort George Courtyard on September 5th, 6-8 pm! Never a cover.
